Is Athlete's Foot Contagious?

Yes! Athlete's foot is very contagious. Athletes foot is type of fungus that is spread from person to person through spores. These spores especially like places that are dark, moist, and warm to thrive in. Places like the locker room, public showers and pool areas can all be breeding grounds. We highly recommend that you always wear shoes (shower shoes or flip flops) in these areas to protect your feet.

If you are living with someone who has athlete's foot, you need to use a strong disinfectant in the shower and on floors. In addition, never share socks or shoes with other people. Wearing shoes or slippers inside in the house is the best way to prevent spreading any foot diseases.

If you have a contagious foot problem, you should see a podiatrist to prevent further spreading the problem.
