Q: What causes toenail fungus?
A:
The most common cause of fungus is being confined to your shoes- a dark, warm, moist environment. Also, areas other than your shoe that are dark, warm and moist can carry the fungus such as, locker room floors, wet floors around swimming pools and Jacuzzis, puddles, gyms, nail salons, showers, and can even be spread from person to person. If you share a shower or towels with a contaminated person, you are putting yourself at risk.
Toenail fungus are dangerous due to the fact they can be painful if it becomes very thick, it can cause ingrown toenails, and may even cause your nail to break off- resulting in an infection.
