Q: What is Extracorpeal Shock Wave Therapy?
A: Extracorporeal shock wave therapy is used to treat chronic heel pain (plantar fasciitis/heel spur syndrome). During this non-invasive surgical procedure, sonic waves are directed at the area of pain using a device similar to that currently used in non-surgical treatment of kidney stones. "Extracorporeal" means "outside of the body," and refers to this non-invasive surgical procedure in which strong sound waves are directed at the area of heel pain.
This procedure is performed on an outpatient basis and requires no hospital stay...actually it can be done right in our office! This proven successful method is a great way to eliminate heel pain without needles, long recovery time, and expensive methods.
Real Life Testimonial From Our Patient:
"I had heel spurs and was in terrible pain. I had tried everything; orthotics, injections and nothing worked. Then I had shock wave therapy and now I feel great. Dr. Wishnie is so great and the staff is even better!
