A: Smelly feet can also be caused by an inherited condition called hyperhidrosis, or excessive sweating, which primarily affects males. Stress, some medications, fluid intake and hormonal changes also can increase the amount of perspiration your body produces.
Mix this with suffocating socks and tight shoes. Bacteria LOVES this type of environment and actually thrives in it. Dark, damp, and moist environments will cause and ancourage bacteria.
Prevention includes always wearing clean socks, even changing them throughout the day if you seat excessively. Alternate your shoes, allow them time to dry out before you wear them again. Apply an antiperspirant to your feet daily such as Mycomist, a specially designed foot deoderant, which we offer in our office.
