I Have Foot and Ankle Pain I Have Questions About The Office I Need More Information

Embarrassed by your feet? It's time to take charge and get the beautiful, painfree feet you SHOULD be having.

Do you shudder at the thought of sandals or open toe shoes? Well, this article is perfect for you. In these six easy steps you can be on your way to gorgeous, pain free feet all summer long!

Think about it, your feet go EVERYWHERE with you, they're stuffed into tight, hot shoes and forced to work until you quit. You barely show them any love and TLC and expect them to be these gorgeous little things....you need to pamper your feet or at the very least take care of them!

Step 1- Scrub Those Feet
You need to clean your feet every day, and if you experience excessive sweating, you may need to clean your feet 2x a day. This also goes for socks, of course your socks should always be clean, but if you tend to sweat a little extra you should change your socks midday. A bristle brush and warm, soapy water is best- get under those toenails! Also, we have available a special antiperspirant just for your feet that, just like deodorant, will protect against excess sweating.

Step 2- Clip Straight Across
We hear this question all the time...what's the correct way to cut toenails and prevent hangnails? CLIP STRAIGHT ACROSS! This is the best way to prevent hangnails and ingrown toenails and get a good, clean cut. Do not ever go digging around the edges, even if you think you have a hangnail, this is just asking for an infected, throbbing ingrown. Leave the digging to the professionals, we have painless methods to prevent and treat hangnails/ingrown toenails.

Step 3- Moisturize
Just like the rest of your body your feet need to be exfoliated and moisturized. This does not mean using razors, blades or any other very UNSAFE instruments to do so. Use an exfoliating bar and only use when your feet are wet. Scrub lightly in the hard areas- usually the heel and under big toe. Apply a moisturizer- except in between toes and allow drying before you begin walking.

Step 4- Check Daily
You should check your feet daily-when you are putting your shoes on or taking them off at the end of the day. Check for any noticeable lumps, bumps, color changes, blisters or sore areas. Catching a foot problem early can prevent serious complications later. If you are concerned about a change in your feet, contact a podiatrist immediately.

Step 5- Get Great Shoes
Sadly, many people do not realize the importance of shoes to their feet. So often people don't understand that 80% of people are not wearing the correct size shoe. Wearing incorrect shoes can cause foot, ankle, knee, even back pain! Shoes need to be supportive and accommodating. You should have your feet checked for size at least 2x a year as your foot size will change with age, weight, activity level. At our office we have stylish, yet supportive shoes available in all sizes and styles- from strappy sandals to heels to sneakers; we have the shoes that can change your life!

Step 6- Get Checked Out
You really need to have your feet checked yearly for the average person and more often based on health issues such as diabetes. A trained podiatrist is able to see health problems that you most likely cannot. Detecting foot problems early will save you time, money and stress! Feet are one of the most worked body parts and the least thought of. Just like a car- your feet need to be "maintained" in order to keep working.
