There are two types of orthotics- custom and prefabricated or over the counter. Both are designed to support the foot and correct any biomechanical problems. However, the difference between custom and prefabricated is that the Lynco orthotics come based on shoe sizes while custom orthotics are molded to fit your specific foot.
To get the most from your orthotics, we recommend getting custom orthotics because they are specifically made for your individual foot and not just your foot type. However, Lyncos can provide some great relief, as well. Lyncos are recommended as a back up insert to custom orthotics.
Furthermore, prefabricated inserts can be a good option when you are in between sizes. If you are pregnant, for example, Lyncos inserts can be used while your foot is larger than normal and a custom made orthotic can be made once you have the baby.
While custom orthotics are typically the best option, there is a place for over the counter, prefabricated inserts, as well. Talk to your doctor about your specific needs and uses to make the best decision based on your needs.
