Foot cramps are a common occurrence, many people will experience a foot cramp in their life. A cramp is an involuntary contracted muscle. Basically it's when your muscle flexes and you have no control to relax the muscle. There are different reasons you may experience a foot cramp and for different reasons.The most common reason is overuse of a muscle, and can be caused from not properly stretching or stretching enough. In addition, many people complain about cramps while they're sleeping or right when they wake up.

Other reasons you may experience foot cramps are dehydration, an injury, or being in the same position for a long period of time. The best way to prevent foot cramps is to properly stretch, drink plenty of water, and be sure not to overextend yourself. If you have continues foot cramps, you will want to see your podiatrist.
