It's no secret many women are willing to sacrifice their health in order to look good. For example, many women are willing to suffer through painful foot issues. According to the American Podiatric Medical Society, 87% of women are suffering due to improper footwear.
Bunions, hammertoes, corns and calluses is just the iceberg. Major foot problems that can occur include bone spurs, plantar fasciitis, achilles tendonitis, and ankle sprains. Women often feel compelled to wear high heels out on dates, to business events, sometimes even to work.
High heels are not creatures of evil, but they do have their place. Our doctors suggests wearing LOW high heels, maybe 2 inches, throughout the day while having a back up pair of sneakers or flats to change into and rotate throughout the day. If you're going out to lunch at work, change into your flats, from the office to your car, wear your flats etc. Also, wedge shoes provide more support that a straight high heel.
