While bunions are not caused by shoes, they can aggravate the condition and begin to make it worse. Bunions are caused by genetics which causes the big toe joint to move toward the 2nd toe. This can cause rubbing and irritation. There are conservative treatments to help alleviate friction, bunion surgery is a common treatment for more serious cases.
Gout
