Our patient Sarah is so impressed with her Hallux Rigidus surgery! Sarah had surgery with Dr. Schaeffer and is feeling great! She doesn't have anymore pain and was very impressed with the Dr. Schaeffer's bedside.

Hallux rigidus is arthritis of the big toe, causing it to become stiff. There us usually a great deal of pain in the big toe joint and this can also cause a bump on top of the foot. For women, this is often caused by wearing tight high heels or wear and tear on the foot. The treatment will usually begin with conservative measures such as ice, anti-inflammatory, physical therapies or orthotics. If the problem persists or the case if more difficult, the doctor will decide if surgery is your best option.
